چکیده

Abstract Background and Aims The incidence of peritonitis has markedly decreased in the last decades, nevertheless it remains one main causes catheter removal subsequent dialysis modality change. In long-term severe relapses can lead to peritoneal membrane failure. Some bacteria form biofilms lumen granting them resistance against antibiotics thus being for infection recurrences. To find a viable way avoid or/and eradicate bacterial biofilm catheters given importance infections. Method We present experience our unit coadjuvant treatment dialysis-associated with locks past few years. used two kinds lock depending on isolated germ divided groups. Group I gram-positive staphylococcus group II gram-negative germs, specifically pseudomona. reported 12 cases from which 10 were first episode (epidermidis Aureus) peritonitis. For we locked 350mg daptomycin 7ml saline solution once week without using hours. other 2 pseudomona taurolidine/urokinase during exchange icodextrin twice hours dwell time until 9 archived. Results treated patients (Table 1). Peritonitis was resolved recurrences I. case Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus involved there no response removed. both their Conclusion study locking seems reduce

Peritoneal Dialysis Catheter Placement Techniques

The success of catheter placement is critically important for the ability to stay on peritoneal dialysis over the long-term. Nephrologists have used percutaneous placement with or without fluoroscopic guidance and placement using peritoneoscopic guidance to place these catheters. Complications can be divided into early, within 14 days, and late complications, those arising more that 14 days aft...

Simultaneous peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion and removal in catheter-related infections without interruption of peritoneal dialysis.

Catheter-related infections result in high patient morbidity, the need for temporary haemodialysis, and high costs. These infections are the main cause of limited technique survival in peritoneal dialysis. We introduced a protocol for the simultaneous peritoneoscopic insertion and removal of peritoneal catheters in patients with catheter-related infections. Peritoneal dialysis was continued the...

Preventing burnout in peritoneal dialysis patients.

Burnout is a syndrome in which emotional depletion and detachment occur in response to prolonged stress. This pattern has been described in many high-intensity occupations, and the individuals at highest risk of developing burnout appear to be those in intense caregiving roles. Despite the wealth of information from examinations of burnout, there is a dearth of research on burnout in peritoneal...

Peritoneal dialysis catheter placement technique and complications

Background. This review describes the peritoneal dialysis (PD) catheter implantation techniques for the treatment of PD. The PD catheter-related complications still cause significant morbidity and mortality, resulting in the necessity to switch to haemodialysis (HD) treatment. Methods. Several catheter insertion techniques, using an open surgical approach, laparoscopic and percutaneous techniqu...

Peritoneal Dialysis Catheter Placement and Management

Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an alternative to hemodialysis in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The main function of a peritoneal dialysis catheter is to permit consistent bidirectional flow of dialysate into intraabdominal peritoneal cavity without obstruction or undue discomfort [1]. Most catheters are flexible tubes with multiple ports in the intraabdo‐ minal segment which is ide...
